There are four red stars in the center if the Chicago flag. The first star represents Fort Dearborn. The second star stands for the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The third star symbolizes the World's Fair of 1893. The fourth star represents the Century of Progress Exposition of 1934. A fifth star has been proposed after the Chicago Cubs won the World Series, which had not happened since 1908.
